The customer portal allows your customers to manage all assigned licenses i.e. licenses issued to the customer in the Software Potential service. With a customer Portal account a customer can:
- View Assigned Licenses.
- View Active Devices.
- Manually activate and reactivate assigned licenses on device.
To use the Customer Portal the customer must:
- Exist in the Software Potential service.
- Have assigned licenses.
- Have created a portal account.
Account Registration
You invite your customer to register for a portal account via email that contains a link to a registration page. If the customer does complete the registration process within 24 hours the invitation expires.
While an invitation is pending (i.e. not expired) it is not possible to issue another invitation to the customer. When an invitation expires it is possible to issue a new invitation using the same email or a different email as appropriate.
Invite Customer
To invite a customer to register:
- Select Consume then Invite Customer option in the main navigation.
- Select the customer to be invited from the list of customers displayed and click the Invite icon.
- Enter the Email of the user to be invited in the Invite Customer form and click Send Invite button.
- To quickly invite further customers in the Invite Customer form:
- Select the next customer to be invited in Customer drop down.
- Enter the required email address and click the Send Invite button.
- When finished click the Back to Invite List button to see the invitation status of the newly invited customer in the Invitation Status table:
- Status: Pending
- Email: Email of the person invited to register account
- Date: Date and time off the current invitation
When the customer accepts the invitation and creates a portal account the status of the invitation will change from Pending to Redeemed. If the invitation expires its status will change to Expired Invitation.
Create Portal Account
To create a portal account, your customer on receipt of the email invitation must:
- Click on the invitation link in the email to go to the registration page.
- Enter UserName and Password, and an email for password reset and click Register button.
- On successful registration click the Proceed button to enter the portal.
Portal Features
With a portal account a customer can:
- View Assigned Licenses.
- View Active Devices.
- Manually activate and reactivate assigned licenses on device.
Assigned Licenses
The All Licenses option in the portal displays basic details of all licenses assigned/issued to a customer in the Software Potential service:
- Product and Version
- Activation Key
- Issue Date
- Evaluation Flag (indicates if license is an evaluation/non-commercial license)
- Subscription Flag (indicate a subscription license)
- Activatable Flag (indicates whether license can be activated further)
If a license is reassigned from a customer then it will no longer appear in the list of assigned licenses.
Active Devices
The Active Devices option displays details of each device on which an assigned license has been activated. For each device some basic activation related data is displayed. Each row represents the latest activation of a license on device for which the following is displayed:
- Activation Key
- Device ID
- Device Label
- Date of Last Activation
The customer can manually reactivate a license on a device using the Activate icon in the row. See Manual Reactivation of a License using the portal for more details.
New Device
A customer can manually activate a license on a device that is not connected to the internet by uploading the manual activation request file to the customer portal. See Manual Activation of a License using the portal for more details.
