To activate a license on a device, a License Activation Request must be generated by the secure runtime on the device and then submitted to the Software Potential Activation Service. See Getting Started With License Activation for more details of the activation process.
When the device is connected to the internet the Activation Requests can be submitted directly to the Activation Service endpoint. When the device is not connected to the internet it is still possible to activate a license using a manual activation process, where the request is submitted indirectly to the Activation Service via a device that does have internet access.
Online Activation Service Endpoint
By default, activation requests from the Software Potential Runtime on end-user machines are sent (on port 80) by the runtime to http://srv.softwarepotential.com/SLMServerWS/ActivationWS.svc.
It is also possible to submit activation requests over a secure HTTPS channel (on port 443) to https://srv.softwarepotential.com/SLMServerWS/ActivationWS.svc/SSL.
It is thus important that client firewalls, proxies etc. are configured to allow outbound connections to http://srv.softwarepotential.com [on port 80 and 443].
These endpoints do NOT require authentication.
