Users must be explicitly assigned permissions in Software Potential. No permissions are assigned by default when registering a new user in Software Potential.
See on how to assign permissions to users in Software Potential.
User Permission Groupings
User permissions are grouped as follows in the Software Potential portal UI:
The Product Management grouping displays the user permissions required to:
- View, create or update product definitions
- Access reports and analytics
Read: To only view product and feature definitions
Manage: To create or update a product definition e.g. add a new product/version or add/remove a feature from an existing product/version
Manage: To view reports in the Analyze subsystem where that subsystem is provisioned for a vendor account
The License Management panel displays the user permissions required to:
- View, issue, reissue, update or assign licenses
- View, create or update customers
- Search Licenses and Activations and
- View license and activation details.
- Disable, Deactivate or change the Max Devices associated with a license without reissuing the license.
- To create and manage SKUs (license templates)
As the License Manage option does NOT allow a user to issue or reissue a license, you should assign this permission to a user that you wish to be able to Disable, Deactivate or otherwise update a license but not have the ability to issue/reissue a license.
Manage: To issue or reissue a license.
A user with this permission can also Disable, Deactivate and Change Max Devices on an issued license without having to reissue the license.
Read: To view customer data.
- Create or update customer data
- Assign/reassign licenses to customers
The Development panel displays the user permissions required to:
- Register WebHooks and client Applications
- Create and update Permutations
- Access Software Potential NuGet feed.
Read: To view details of a WebHook or client Application
Manage: To create/update a WebHook or to register a client Application.
Manage: To create or update a permutation.
A user with Permutation Manage permission can also access the NuGet feed to download SpAgent runtime packages.
Manage: To read and install SpAgent runtime packages from the Software Potential NuGet feed.
A user with this permission can NOT create or update a permutation.
This permission should be assigned to developers who need to authenticate to the Software Potential NuGet feed to install the required NuGet packages in the application solutions/projects.
The User Management panel displays the user permissions required to manage users.
Manage: To register a user and to manage user permissions
At least one user in Software Potential must have this Manage permission. A user with the User Manage permission can remove this permission from other users but cannot remove it from his/her own account.
The following table maps individual user permissions to standard license management actions carried out by users in the Software Potential service.
