You can add a new version to an existing Product at any stage. This is typically done when features are added to, or removed from a previous version of the product
It is important to remember that each product version is uniquely identified by a combination of Name and Version. and that licenses are issued at Product Version level. This means a license issued for one version of a product will not be valid with a different version of the same product.
Each Product Version can have associated:
- Features
- Feature Sets
Add New Product Version
It is not possible to change the Name or Version values once a product version has been created.
To add a new Version to an existing Product:
- Select Define and then Create Product in the main navigation bar to display the Create Product form.
- Enter a Name of an existing product and a new Version (both mandatory), together with an optional Description, for the new Product Version.
You must enter the exact name of the existing Product. Otherwise a a completely new Product is created.
If you wish to copy features forward from a pre-existing Product Version, you can select this Product Version in the drop down list in Copy Product Features field.
Click Save to save the new Product Version definition
- You can now see the new product version in the list of products:
