An auto-renewable subscription license is configured such that all renewal requests received by the Software Potential activation service will be automatically authorized i.e. will not require an explicit authorization.
While auto-renewable subscription licenses are issued in expectation that renewals should happen automatically there may be a need to disable or prevent renewals in certain circumstances e.g. a customer fails to make the payment required for renewal. In these circumstances it is possible to disable further renewal of the license until the situation is resolved, at which time renewals can be re-enabled.
For details on how to control renewals of a subscription license that is not auto-renewable please see the Non Auto-renewable Subscription License section below.

Non Auto-renewable Subscription License
A subscription license that is not auto-renewable has a Renewals Authorized Until date set such that all renewals received by the Software Potential Activation service on or before that date are authorized; all renewals received after that date will be rejected.
When a non auto-renewable subscription license is first issued, the Renewals Authorized Until date is set to the license Start Date. When the license is first activated the Renewals Authorized Until date is set to the end of the first subscription period for the license.
If you wish to enable further renewals of the license you will need to adjust the Renewals Authorized Until date appropriately.
To control renewals of a non auto-renewable subscription license:
- Search for the license using the Search License page.
- Select the license in the search results and click the View Details button.
- In the Lifecycle section of the License Details page the Renewal Authorized Until date is displayed indicating the date until which renewals will be authorized on receipt by the Software Potential activation service. Any renewals received after that date will be rejected.
You can advance the Renewals Authorized Until date using the "+" button; each click will advance the date by one subscription period.
